It is true that when you are young you feel like you are invincible. Even though everything you are experiencing is fresh and new, you feel like you know everything and it is difficult for anyone to tell you anything. Then you get to be around the age of forty and enter the period of mid life crisis and you try desperately to recapture your youth, while becoming more uncertain of anything. By the time you get to the ripe old age of fifty and have acquired a vast wealth of knowledge and experience, you are less certain than ever before until you reach the point where nothing means nothing.
I used to have a good life
I thought I knew the way
But now I'm feelin so sad
This is all I have to say
Nothin means nothin
That is just the way
But somethin could mean nothin
For the rest of all our days
Love could be a fine thing
Love could be the way
Love can make your heart sing
And love can make you pay
Feelin alone
That'll come what may
Here by the phone
Fadin away
Nothin means nothin
That is just the way
But somethin could mean nothin
For the rest of all our days
I thought I had a good life
I thought I knew the way
And now I don't know nothin
And that's all I have to say
You know I read a blurb on the 24 hour news channel, that the alzheimer society international reported that there are 10,000 cases of dementia in every major city in north america and that these numbers were doubling every year. Oh yeah, when did I read that. I think it was 2005. I can't quite remember.
I try to leave for work, I check the stove
I check the kitchen taps don't drip, I smell my rose
I check the stove again, set my alarm
I check the kitchen taps again, then close the door
And as I lock my second lock
I'm thinking back in my mind did I check the stove
The haze of loss will permeate my brain
Until I won't know what i'm saying, oh no
Dementia is creeping in all around us
Dementia, consuming all the populace
Dementia, control from what we can't concieve
Dementia it's just too hard
Do you believe?
Somethings happening to me
This is something I can't see
There's been something on my mind
I admit I don't feel fine
Somethings happening in my head
I'd be better off brown bread
Somethings happening in my brain
I will never feel the same
I try to leave for work, I check the stove
I check the kitchen taps don't drip, I blow my nose
I check the stove again, set my alarm
I check the kitchen taps again, then close the door
And as I lock my second lock
I'm thinking back in my mind did I check the stove
The haze of loss will permeate my brain
Until I won't even know my name, oh no.
Dementia…
What do we have to show for the nineties? Probably the dullest, most uneventful decade I have lived through. If you try to think about what was good in that decade the mind draws a blank. Possibly one answer would be the television cartoon called The Simpson's. The funny thing is the first decade in the new millenium is making the nineties feel like the sixties.
What have we got to show for the nineties
What have we got to show for the day
What have we got to show for the nineties
What have we got to show for the pain
Ozone/acid rain
Ozone/acid rain
Can't go out in the sunlight
Can't go out in the rain
Can't go out in the moonlight
Can't go out in the day
Can't drink a glass of water
Can't even go for a swim
Can't go out in the sunlight
It's too late to put up a fight
What have we got to show for the nineties
What have we got to show for the pain
What have we got to show for the nineties
What have we got to show for the day
Ozone/acid rain
Ozone/acid rain
Can't go out in the sunlight
Can't go out in the rain
Can't go out in the moonlight
Can't go out in the day
My brother got skin cancer
My wife just got a pain
Baby just got a sunburn
From sitting in the red hot flame ozone/acid rain ozone/acid rain…
I think there gets to a point where society panders too much to the complaining of special interest groups. Whereby a designated few people with the right political connections and a controversial subject of the day can change our very way of thinking and the way we live, in the name of political correctness, or status quo. It's the old story of the squeaky wheel getting all of the oil. Until one day you wake up and realize that this is nothing at all like the wonderful world where you grew up and used to thrive in.
Once upon a time there was a way
When it came to life there was so much more to say
The simple pleasures of a man and wife
A little child, a baby on the way
Now times are changing ever so fast
From the future shocka-rockin up through the past
Well this is causing a big backlash
Yes this is causing a big backlash
Men just want to be with other men
Loud aggressive women that aren't feminine
The squeaky wheel gets all of the oil
And societies policies are changed with their toil
Now all the minorities have a bigger share of the say
Reverse discrimination of the white man's way
There are women's rights, and animal rights
And minority rights, what about men's rights, yeah
It's so much harder for a man to date
From the fear of aids and the womens group hate
It's easier to go to a strip club
Put a few dollars down and do the rubadub
Well this is causing a big backlash
Yes this is causing a big backlash
The backlash of the backlash
Of the very backlash of the very backlash, yeah
Knick-knack paddywhack, give the dog a bone
This old man is moving alone
Eeny meeny miney moe catch a lover by the toe
If she holler let her go or you know where you will go
The backlash the big backlash
The backlash the big backlash
Why can't we make anything ourselves? It's probably due to the United States policy of just buying up all of our technology and modern know how and brain draining it south of the border along with our top scientists and modern thinking minds. We saw it with the fall of the Avro Arrow. One of the finest aircrafts ever built of which we have not even a single plane left intact for a museum. Just one tail fin is all that remains. The brains and talent for that project are the same people behind the first project to successfully land a man on the moon. Now we will probably see another such occurrence with the sale of the Canada Arm.
Made in Taiwan made in taiwan
Made in Hong Kong
Why can't we make anything ourselves?
Why can't we make anything ourselves?
Made in Italy made in germany
Made in Switzerland
Why can't we make anything ourselves?
Why can't we make anything ourselves?
Cause we're too busy with technology
And ways of weapons that blind our kind
We're just too busy always thinking of ourselves
Too damn busy with microbiology
And weaponry that kill mankind
We're just too busy always thinking of ourselves
We're just too busy always thinking of ourselves
We're just too busy always thinking of ourselves
Made in India made in Syria
Made in Pakistan
Why can't we make anything ourselves?
Why can't we make anything ourselves?
Made in Panama made in havana
Made in Timbuktoo
Why can't we make anything ourselves?
Why can't we make anything ourselves?
Cause we're too busy with technology
And weaponry that blind our kind
We're just too busy always thinking of ourselves
We're just too busy always thinking of ourselves
We're just too busy always thinking of ourselves
You never really know how much you have in this life until you no longer have it. Nuff said.
I won't know what I've got till I've lost it
I won't know what I've lost till it's gone
I won't know what I've got till I've lost it
I won't know what I've lost until it's nearly gone
Gone gone gone gone gone, gone away
Gone gone gone gone, I'm gone
Gone gone gone gone gone, gone away
Gone gone gone gone, I'm gone
I'm nearly gone
I won't know what I've got till I find it
I won't know what I've found till it's gone
I won't know what I've got till I've lost it
I won't know what I've lost until it's gone away
Gone gone gone gone gone, gone away
Gone gone gone gone, gone away
Gone gone, I'm gone, so gone, gone away
Gone gone gone gone, I'm gone
I'm nearly gone
You know back around the mid eighties when the aids virus was introduced to the world through tainted hepatitis B vaccinations, it became quite a setback to the everloving, free thinking, Christconsciousness society that was emerging through the 60's and 70's in North America. It was a glorious time for art, music, culture and personal expressiveness. This all began to change after the introduction of aids. The very heart and core of the thing where love and passion was created had been afflicted. People could no longer be so open and honest and free because of the fear and paranoia this horrible disease called aids struck to the center of our existence.

Did you ever notice that every time the United States wages a war against anything, it seems to be a venture that they have no possible intention of winning. Think about it, the war on pollution, the war on the environment, the war on global warming, the war on disease, the war on aids, the war on cancer, the war on prejudice, the war on terrorism, the war on drugs, the war on tobacco, the war on alcohol, the war on education, the war on hunger, the war on borders, the war on pornography, the war on wars. The truth is that every time they wage a war its just an excuse to spend billions of taxpayer's dollars promoting and propagating the very thing it is said that they are trying to irradicate. While all of this is going on you are now completely distracted from what it is that they are really doing behind the scenes. That is manipulating and controlling your very existence.
Look at the world and all the time it's turnin
As people come an they go the countless face yearnin
For better lives
I could have tried but whats the sense in bleeding
I nearly tried but restitutions fleeting
And so hide
It's a song, just a song
And it's a song, it's just a song
Look at the waves and all the time there crashin
Meanwhile people don't know of eco systems crashin
Out of control
What can you say when you don't hold the answers
For better days where nations are so irresponsible
It's a song, just a song
And it's a song, it's just a song
Look at the sky and try to count the stars
Meantime people don't know the beauty in
Their own backyards
How can you try when seeing is believing
I nearly tried but I just had to give up and so hide
It's a song, just a song
And it's a song, it's just a song
And it's a song, it's just a song
And it's a song, it's just a song
The teaching of the ancient Mayan civilization reveals to us that we as human beings are about to enter a new beginning or the end of a cycle. The Mayan calendar ends in the year 2012 and we are presently occupying a space in history known as the "time of no time". The present day so called "modern" organized religions have similar view points about the end of a system, but due to their ideologies of controlling the masses and promoting disharmony will unwittingly bring about the undoing of us all.
And you can be spiritual, but you don't have to say goodbye
And you can be spiritual, but you don't have to sing a song
And you can be spiritual, but you don't have to swear an oath
And you can be spiritual, but you don't have to say a prayer
You can be spiritual by being yourself
You can be spiritual promoting good health
You can be spiritual by sharing the wealth
You can be spiritual, you can be spiritual
You just need to feel what's inside of your heart
And you'll make the choice but you'll have to be smart
By doing your own thing with a positive chart
And never look back and never depart
And you can be spiritual, but you don't have to join a club
And you can be spiritual, but you don't have to wave a flag
And you can be spiritual, but you don't have to wear a badge
And you can be spiritual, but you don't have to go to church
You can be spiritual avoiding the crowd
You can be spiritual by laughing out loud
You can be spiritual from being so proud
You can be spiritual, you can be spiritual
You just need to feel what is right from what's wrong
And you'll make the choice but you'll have to be strong
By doing your own thing cause your time's just so long
And making the world like a beautiful song
They say carcinogens are harmful and toxic to the body helping to create a state of being where the body is more receptive to illness and certain diseases. They also tell us these carcinogens are all around us. A part of our lifestyle if you will. The food you eat, the water you drink, the clothes you wear, the air you breathe. The toothpaste you use, the cosmetics you wear, the kitchen cabinets you just installed, the new car smell in your automobile spouting carbon dioxide, the antifungal paint you just applied to your bathroom, the particular smoke that you prefer to inhale, etc., etc.
Carcenogenic, cargenogenic
Rush, rush, power
Carcenogenic, carcenogenic
It is in the food that we eat
So come on just take a seat
It is in the air that we breathe
Carcenogens you just can't see
It is in the wine in the glass
Don't look now you've had a flask
Smoke another french cigarette
That's about as hard as it gets
Carcenogenic, carcenogenic
Rush, rush, power
Carcenogenic, carcenogenic
That's a carse, there's a carse, here's a carcenogenic oh
He's a carse, she's a carse, we're all carcenogenic eh
Rush, rush, power
Carcenogenic, carcenogenic
It is in the food that we eat
So come on just take a seat
It is in the air that we breathe
It is in the wine in the glass
Don't look now you've had a flask
Smoke another french cigarette
That's about as hard as it gets
Carcenogenic, carcenogenic
Rush, rush, power
Carcenogenic, carcenogenic
Carcenogenic, carcenogenic
Carcenogenic, carcenogenic
Carcenogenic, carcenogenic
Carcenogenic
It's hard to grow up and function in a highly mechanized and technically advanced society, without having at least a couple of strange character traits or mental quirks. It could also be said that we are all, every one of us, a little bit crazy to a degree. The problem is that it is taboo to admit that you have any deficiencies in the area of your mind. So though it is so nobody will care to admit it. Even so there are more psychiatrists in America than the rest of the world combined.
You had it coming, you had it coming that night
There was no reason, there was no reason or rhyme
It was a moment, it was a moment in time
You had to cross it, you had to cross on that line
Outta my head, outta my mind
Outta my head, outta my mind
Outta my skin, outta my hide
Outta my head, outta my mind
You sought the answers, you sought the answers to life
Your foolish reasons, your foolish reasons were rife
It happened to you, it happened to you and your wife
It cut right through you, cut through you just like a knife
Outta my head, outta my mind
Outta my head, outta my mind
Outta my head, outta my hide
Outta my head, outta my mind
Outta my head, outta my mind
Outta my head, wastin my time
Losin my grip, standin in line
Outta my teeth, outta my time
Outta my will, losin my mind
Outta my dreams, wastin my time
Outta my grip, standin in line
Outta my head, it's all in my mind
Everybody yeah, yeah yeah yeah
Everybody yeah, yeah yeah yeah
Everybody yeah, yeah yeah yeah
I say yeah, yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah
As human beings we have been blessed by this beautiful planet. It provides an abundance of growth and sustains our lives. The first peoples of North America call this living planet Great Mother or Mother Earth. They understood if they did not respect her, that there would be dire consequences. Us so called civilized or advanced peoples have little regard for the body of life that allows us to go on and continue to thrive. We insist on polluting and destroying the planet at an alarming rate. The next time that you as an individual are doing something that you know in your heart is not good for the earth, ask yourself a question. Is this the way you would treat your mother? So then why do you do it to your Mother Earth?
You're like a friend who means the world to me
Until the end you're always there for me
You are the north to my south and my east to the west
You're like a perfect lady and why I love you the best
Cause you sustain me like a bountiful feast
And you contain mewith your loving release
Without you there's no sun, moon, or stars late at night
Your giving me the strength and all the courage to fight
Your inspiration in the purest form
My acclimation is you keep me safe and warm
Without you in my life I couldn't breathe or eat
There is no other person who can ever compete
It's like that y'all, that's how it came to me
I'll give it back y'all, it's down to you and me
Just look around, it's there for all to see
A better world, our future history, oh yeah
Open your eyes and you will see it too
Look to the skies for a new point of view
The world is changing in the light of day
And rearranging, there's things that we can all say
Wake up and pull our heads from the sand
And try to shake things up, it's time to heal the land
This is our last call and there's no second chance
Our planet's dying in the political dance
Think about it, talk about it
Scream and shout it, dream and tout it
Let's talk about it, love about it
Pray about it, let's talk about it
It's time for change, feel the love
It's like that y'all, i'll give it back y'all
Here is the story
It seems to me that people would rather not know what's going on around them. When I tell my friends and family that I think that we are all losing our memory, they tell me Mike you're crazy. You're just getting old, or you killed too many brain cells from cigarettes and alcohol, or you've taken too many recreational drugs in your life. Basically any excuse they can think of to cover the truth. If you can't remember, you can't fight back and those who are in control will find no resistance.
Our Time Right Here Has Come
Turn The Frequency Gun To Stunned
Pick The People Off One By One
Now We're Having So Much Fun
We're Harvesting Death
What A Thing To Do
We're Just Harvesting Death
Gonna Make You Turn Blue
We're Harvesting Death
In The Light Of Day
We're Harvesting Death
There's Not A Thing To Say
Now You're Looking So Surprised
Wipe The Twinkle Out From Your Eyes
I Think It's Time You Realized
It's Fallin Right Down From The Skies
We're Harvesting Death
Don't Ask Me Why
We're Just Harvesting Death
Cause We All Have To Die
We Are Harvesting Death
And Death Is In The Air
We're Harvesting Death
But You Don't Have To Care
We're Harvesting Death
Don't You Ever Ask Why
We Are Harvesting Death
You're Not Afraid To Die
We're Harvesting Death
Death Death Dadeath Death Dadeath
We're Harvesting Death
Don't You Ever Ask Again
Well then ladies and gentlemen, there you have it. You have been a part of the live radio broadcast of my epic journey through three decades of life entitled "Death in the air". I hope I was able to open your mind a small degree to that which is all around us. If we can change our way of living by even a small percentage and try harder to work together we can all make a difference. It's not too late, love is the answer.
I'd like to thank my band "The Non-believers" for helping to make our live presentation a reality.
I will now end the program with a piece of recorded music which I feel sums up the mood of our pre-apocalyptic and post 9/11 state. My name is Michael Dillon and I thank you very much for listening.
Have I ever been here before
Am I ever closin my door
Do I ever count in the facts
Would I ever make an attack
The times I have felt from within
To let self expression begin
And I'm not withholding the facts
But my whole existence just lacks
That's how it feels so sad
Why it is so bad
Why it feels so sad
How it is so bad
Have I ever spoke out of turn
Do I ever crash and then burn
Would I always cover my tracks
Will I ever hold myself back
The times that I have tried to do right
Have felt like a lame oversight
I'm not tryna stir up the pot
But I've had my fill of the lot
That's how it is so sad
Why it feels so bad
How it is so bad
Why it feels so sad
That's how it is
Why it feels
That's where it goes
Why it is
That's how it feels so sad
Why it is so bad
How it feels so bad
Why it is so sad
Death in the air is sweeping across this great land. It has engulfed our way of thinking with a fury like a blazing hellstrum. What started out so innocently at the turn of the century as technical advances, ironically became the tools for modified behaviour control. how do you control the way people think? You change the way people think by bombarding them with high definition digital information. You induce artificial sleep deprivation while people are awake at work using high def gear or at home engaging electronic games, television or internet. You make people too tired and sick to resist or care, thereby removing their humanistic character traits. You effectively create a new generation of beings that are somehow different than the last. Could this be the new master race? Society of well managed workers that are highly motivated by commercial greed and devoid of human compassion for their fellow beings? Are we heralding in the next master race for the new world order?
Fully one decade into the 21st century and the digitalization of man is now complete. The government has outlawed the use of any analog communication devices as the world is reeling from the effects of a global economic depression. The grip of fear and paranoia is at an all time high and the pharmaceutical companies have packaged their latest treatment to their newest disease called stress. The people of the United States have elected their first black president and the mood of the country is poised for change. Unfathomable concepts that could not have been conceived of only ten short years ago are now fodder for twenty-four hour news channel viewer polls. A little bit of change can be a good thing but we must be more mindful of what it is that we as a human race are changing in to.
In the last century the world witnessed the collapse of the USSR, the fall of the Berlin wall, and the end of the cold war. In that era under certain circumstances governments would hide things from the public to stop the creation of a panic or hysteria in the masses. This seems like a sharp contrast to the protocols of the new millennium where governments will go out of their way to inflict an atmosphere of terror and uncertainty on an unsuspecting public. In the age of the cold war people on either side of the wall were fairly confident there were enough restrictions and safeguards in place to prevent a catastrophe such as a nuclear holocaust. We were content in thinking "they" or the powers that be could never let "that" happen. It was our own humanity that was truly the safeguard.
Our own humanism may be the thing that has stopped us on more than one occasion and pulled us back from the brink of disaster. My major problem with this blind trust factor in the computer age after the corruption involved in the demise of the banks, insurance companies and the oil companies manipulation of the markets is that I'm just not feeling the love. The devastating policy of going to war with Iraq under the guise of 9/11 and the monopolistic contract of all supplies for the war effort going to Haliburton who happens to be owned by one of the top minds of the war creation strategy. I can't tell any more if the governments are controlling the corporations or if the corporations are ruling the governments.
There was a time in the past when I felt safe knowing that there was some kind of governing body that would protect our planetary issues. By preventing a calamity of epic or biblical proportions based on the reasoning of wisdom, compassion and the human spirit. I am not as confident now in the digital era mostly because I am not as sure about what we are becoming as a race of soulless worker druids to ever ensure the safety of such a human pursuit as protecting our planet or ourselves. There is only one thing that I am relatively certain of and that is that there will be plenty more death in the air all along the way.
